
Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, as at 2024, reveals the leading causes of registered deaths across the country.
Pneumonia remains the top killer, claiming 9,682 lives, followed closely by Cancer with 8,954 deaths.
Non-communicable diseases feature heavily in the findings; Cardiovascular diseases accounted for 7,478 deaths, while Hypertension and Diabetes recorded 5,035 and 3,822 fatalities, respectively. Heart disease also claimed 3,730 lives.
Other significant causes include Injuries (4,574), Anaemia (4,572), and Kidney diseases (4,247). Additionally, the statistics highlight a critical impact on maternal and child health, with Prematurity resulting in 4,223 registered deaths.
These figures underscore the diverse health challenges currently facing the Kenyan population.
