The United Democratic Alliance secretary general Hassan Omar on Tuesday led a sensitisation forum at Burhani Grounds in Mombasa county ahead of the repeat Phase Two grassroots elections.

The meeting brought together party officials and elected leaders from across the Coast, marking the climax of the UDA Coast tour forums held in all six coastal counties.

Leaders used the forum to drum up support for President William Ruto, saying the region had witnessed tangible development and should remain united ahead of the 2027 general election.

They cited ongoing infrastructure projects, expansion of port operations and investments in the blue economy as signs of what they described as inclusive growth under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

A joint declaration was read at the meeting by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya and Governor Issa Timamy, reaffirming collaboration among political leaders in the region.

The leaders pledged to work together across party lines to strengthen grassroots structures and intensify mobilisation at the village level.

The forum also focused on preparations for the repeat Phase Two grassroots elections, which party officials said are aimed at strengthening internal democracy and ensuring broader representation within party ranks.

Other leaders present were Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana, Taita Taveta Woman Representative Lydia Haika, Msambweni MP Feisal Bader, Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza and Lungalunga MP Mangale Chiphoromodo.

Also in attendance were Lamu East MP Ruweida Obbo, UDA National Elections Board member Jimmy Kahindi, Lapsset chairperson Ali Mbogo, Kenya Roads Board chairperson Aisha Jumwa and Youth Enterprise Development Fund chairperson Fatma Barayan.

UDA leaders said the grassroots tour was designed to solidify the party’s presence in the region as the 2027 contest begins to take shape.
