
Kenyatta University and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology have announced a wide range of job vacancies across academic, administrative and technical departments in a new recruitment drive.
Kenyatta University said it is seeking competent and dedicated applicants to fill positions in several units, including the Internal Audit Department, the National Phytotherapeutics Research Centre, the Directorate of Endowment and Alumni Programmes, and the Kenyatta University Funeral Home.
Among the key positions advertised are Chief Internal Auditor, Risk Manager and Risk Officer under the Internal Audit Department. The National Phytotherapeutics Research Centre is also hiring for several technical roles, including Senior Technician in the Quality Assurance Section, technicians in microbiology and food safety, and a machine operator.
Additional openings include Endowment Officer and Development Officer in the Directorate of Endowment and Alumni Programmes, alongside a Refrigeration Technician role at the university’s funeral home.
The institution stated that “the terms of service include basic salary and a house allowance,” and directed applicants to submit detailed information on their qualifications, work experience and referees. Applications must be addressed to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) and received by April 14, 2026.
Kenyatta University emphasised its hiring policy, noting that it “is an equal opportunity employer” and warned that “canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.”
It also encouraged applications from “women and persons with disabilities,” adding that “only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.”
Meanwhile, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) has also opened applications for both teaching and administrative roles as part of its mandate to deliver “transformative education through integrated quality training, research and community engagement for sustainable development.”
The university has advertised administrative positions in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, including Deputy Chief Security Officer, Legal Officer I and Senior Legal Assistant. In the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Planning, Administration and Finance, the institution is recruiting a Medical Officer.
In the academic division, JOOUST is seeking to fill positions in nursing, including Senior Lecturer, Lecturer and Clinical Instructor roles under the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, Student Affairs and Research.
The university outlined detailed application requirements, stating that candidates must submit an application letter, curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic and professional certificates, and other supporting documents. It added that “professional affiliation will be an added advantage” for administrative positions.
Applicants will also be required to provide clearances from several bodies, including the Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Directorate of Criminal Investigation and a registered Credit Reference Bureau.
JOOUST instructed candidates to send both hard and soft copies of their applications, with referees submitting confidential reports by April 29, 2026. The institution reiterated that “only shortlisted candidates will be contacted” and cautioned that “canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.”
The university further noted that it “does not levy any fee in the processing, recruitment & selection of applicants” and reserves “the right not to make any appointments at any stage of the recruitment exercise.”
