Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has confirmed plans to hold a public rally in Kikuyu township on Saturday, April 11, 2026, saying the meeting will proceed.
In a post shared on his social media platforms, Gachagua said he had met leaders from the Kikuyu constituency who invited him to address the rally and that he had accepted the request.
“This morning, I had the opportunity to meet with leaders from the DCP in Kikuyu constituency. I accepted their invitation to hold a public rally in Kikuyu township on Saturday, 11th April 2026, at 1:00 PM,” Gachagua said.
He said the meeting would also bring together principals of the United Alternative Government, who he said had been invited to attend.
Gachagua said he had been cautioned against proceeding with the rally following what he termed as threats.
“I have also been advised not to be intimidated,” he said.
He said Kikuyu constituency, like all parts of the country, is governed by the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of assembly and association.
“I have assured them that Kikuyu constituency is part of the Republic of Kenya and, like all other regions, is governed by the rule of law and the Constitution, which guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and association,” Gachagua said.
He said local leaders had put in place measures to ensure the safety of those who would attend the rally.
He alleged that there were attempts to disrupt the event.
Gachagua maintained that his political movement would not be deterred by threats.
“Our journey to liberate this country remains unstoppable,” he said.
