President William Ruto has sent out a warm message of hope to Kenyans as the Easter weekend begins.

Ruto wished Kenyans a happy Easter, urging them to embrace hope, renewal and unity.

In a video message shared on his social media platforms on Friday, Ruto said the Easter season offers a reminder of new beginnings, anchored on the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“As we remember the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are reminded that in every situation there is resurrection and a new beginning,” Ruto said.

He expressed his wishes to families across the country, saying the season should bring joy, peace and renewed faith to those going through difficult moments.

“To every family, may the spirit of Easter bring joy and peace. To every weary heart, may it bring hope and renewed faith,” he said.

The President also called for unity among Kenyans, noting that the country stands to benefit from shared values of love and togetherness.

“And to our beloved Kenya, may it bring strength, unity and love. God bless your families, and God bless Kenya,” Ruto said.

His message comes as Christians across the country join millions worldwide in observing Easter, one of the most important events in the Christian calendar.

In Kenya, during the Easter period, many faithful attend church services for prayer and reflection.

Before Easter, there is Good Friday, which commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, a day observed with solemnity and reflection, while Easter Sunday celebrates his resurrection, symbolising victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

For many Christians, the season represents the foundation of their faith, centred on sacrifice, forgiveness, redemption and renewal.

Churches across the country hold special services, including prayers, vigils and sermons focusing on spiritual growth and new beginnings.

Beyond its religious significance, Easter is also a time for family gatherings, travel and rest, with many Kenyans taking advantage of the long weekend to reconnect with loved ones.

Leaders and clergy have continued to use the occasion to call for peace, unity and reflection, urging citizens to draw strength from faith and work towards strengthening national cohesion.
