Deputy President Kithure Kindiki/FILEDeputy President Kithure Kindiki has sent an Easter message of hope, unity and renewal to Kenyans, as Christians across the country mark one of the most significant periods in the religious calendar.
In a message shared on his social media platforms on Good Friday, Kindiki reflected on the spiritual meaning of the day, describing the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ as the ultimate expression of love.
“The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ is the most powerful demonstration of love ever,” Kindiki said.
He noted that the Easter season symbolises hope, redemption and victory over sin, calling on Kenyans to embrace the period as a time for reflection and renewal.
“On this Good Friday, hope is renewed, redemption made possible, and victory over sin is cemented,” he added.
Kindiki described the Easter weekend as the most solemn period in the Christian calendar, urging citizens to take time to pause and reflect on its deeper meaning while also celebrating its significance.
“The Easter weekend remains the most solemn season of the Christian calendar, for pause, reflection, renewal and celebration of the most consequential moment that conclusively defined our destiny,” he said.
The Deputy President also extended his wishes to families across the country, expressing hope that the holiday would bring peace and clarity.
“May every family find peace and clarity. May our nation work together to achieve our purpose and destiny,” he said.
His message comes hours after President Ruto also conveyed his Easter wishes, urging Kenyans to embrace hope, unity and new beginnings inspired by the death and resurrection of Christ.
Ruto emphasised the importance of faith and resilience, noting that the Easter story serves as a reminder that difficult moments can give way to renewal and transformation.
Across Kenya, Christians are observing Good Friday with church services, prayers and reflection, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The period will culminate in Easter Sunday celebrations, marking the resurrection, a cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolising victory over death and the promise of eternal life.
The Easter season is marked by public holidays including Good Friday and Easter Monday, offering many Kenyans an opportunity for worship, family gatherings and rest.
Religious and political leaders alike have continued to use the occasion to call for unity, peace and national cohesion, urging citizens to draw strength from faith and work collectively towards the country’s shared aspirations.
