Police in Nakuru County have launched a manhunt for a suspect linked to the fatal stabbing of a nine-year-old boy in Mauche area, Njoro Sub-County.
The incident, reported on the night of March 23, 2026, occurred in Tepeswet Village.
According to authorities, the victim, a pupil at Tepeswet Comprehensive School, was walking home from a nearby shopping centre when he encountered a young man believed to be in his early 20s.
The suspect allegedly attacked the child, stabbing him in the lower left rib and inflicting a deep wound.
Police officers responded to the scene and found the boy lying on his back with severe bleeding from the stab wound. The motive of the attack remains unclear, as the suspect fled immediately after the incident.
The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was moved to Egerton University Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
Authorities have since intensified the search for the suspect and are appealing to members of the public with any information that could assist in his arrest to come forward.
Residents are calling for swift justice and enhanced security.
In a separate incident, a 45-year-old man was found murdered in his house in a village in Kwale County.
Police said the incident occurred on March 23 in Mwereni village.
The body of Mwanyama Kesi, 45, was found in his house with a deep wound to the neck, which police said was inflicted by a sharp object.
Investigators believe the assailants gained entry into the house by climbing a perimeter wall before slashing him to death. A woman who was in the house was left unharmed, police said.
The motive of the attack is believed to be a love triangle, police added, as the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said they were pursuing the assailants in the incident.
Meanwhile, in Homa Bay’s Kanyaluo area, police said they are investigating a murder after the body of a man was found lying on the roadside.
The victim was identified as Clinton Ochieng and had stab wounds to the chest. His brother was also stabbed and injured in the attack by four people following a disagreement at a drinking den, police said.
Police said the motive of the attack was not immediately known, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.
