The number of vacancies varies by role, with some positions, such as Assistant Compliance Officer II, having 28 vacancies, the highest number of openings.

In addition to the core administrative and technical roles, AFA is also recruiting artisans in different specialisations, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing fields. These positions are aimed at supporting the Authority’s operational infrastructure.

Other opportunities listed include drivers and office assistants, reflecting a broad recruitment drive targeting both skilled professionals and support staff.

The Agriculture and Food Authority, established under the Agriculture and Food Authority Act, is mandated to regulate, develop and promote agricultural commodities in Kenya.

The recruitment exercise is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, improve regulatory oversight and boost agricultural productivity in line with national development goals.

Interested candidates have been advised to access detailed job descriptions and application requirements through the Authority’s official website, www.afa.go.ke.

The advertisement specifies that applications must be submitted before the stated deadline of April 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm, East African Time.

The Authority emphasised that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and will be required to present clearance certificates from relevant institutions in line with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, which outlines leadership and integrity requirements for public service.

In a cautionary note, the Authority warned applicants against canvassing, stating that any attempt to influence the recruitment process would lead to automatic disqualification. It further clarified that it does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, urging applicants to remain vigilant against fraudsters.

By filling these positions, AFA aims to strengthen its capacity to regulate the sector effectively while supporting farmers and stakeholders across the value chain.

AFA has also reiterated its commitment to equal opportunity employment, encouraging applications from women, persons with disabilities and individuals from marginalised communities. This aligns with the government’s broader agenda of promoting inclusivity and diversity within public institutions.

Successful candidates are expected to play a key role in advancing the Authority’s mandate, ensuring compliance with standards, and driving innovation and growth within Kenya’s agriculture industry.
