Detectives in Kuria West Subcounty, Migori county, launched investigations into the murder of a 35-year-old man whose body was found by the roadside in Nyabokarange area.

Police said the incident was reported after the body was discovered earlier.

Police identified the deceased as Stephen Chacha Matiko, a farmer from Naora Village.

The body was found lying on the left side of the road along the Nyabokarange–Mwengezeko murram road.

Preliminary observations revealed a stab wound on the left side of the chest, with blood oozing from the mouth, indicating a violent attack. The motive behind the killing and the identity of the assailant(s) remain unknown.

The body was moved to Kehancha Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

Crime incidents have been on the rise in the area amid operations to solve them.

Elsewhere, police in Likoni Subcounty, Mombasa county, launched investigations following the discovery of the body of an unidentified woman at an abandoned building near Losa Joy Primary School.

The woman aged about 35 years is suspected to be pregnant and lay in a heap of garbage at an unfinished structure.

Preliminary examination revealed that the body had visible bruises on the face and swelling on the right ear, injuries believed to have been inflicted using a blunt object.

Investigators suspect that the woman may have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the location.

Police said the body was moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary, where it awaits identification and a postmortem examination.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could help identify the deceased or assist in the investigation to come forward.

And police in Rachuonyo East Subcounty, Homa Bay county, are investigating a murder incident after a 50-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault by unknown attackers. According to police, John Odhiambo Owoudh had attended a night vigil.

At around 3 am March 21, the deceased reportedly left the homestead to return home on foot when he was attacked and seriously assaulted by unknown people.

Despite his injuries, he managed to reach home, where he communicated the ordeal to his brother through gestures, as he had been rendered unable to speak.

He was initially taken to Queen Rivers Medical Facility in Kandogo Trading Centre, where he received treatment and was discharged.

However, his condition later worsened, prompting his transfer to Rachuonyo County Referral Hospital and subsequently to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The victim was later admitted to Nyangena Medical Facility in Kisii Town, where he unfortunately died while undergoing treatment

Police are investigating the incident.
