National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has called on Members of Parliament to stand in solidarity with Tiaty MP William Kamket following the death of his son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr, who will be laid to rest on Monday, March 23, 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, Wetang’ula said he had joined the family of Kamket and Data Commissioner Immaculate Kassait in mourning the sudden loss, describing it as a deeply painful moment for the family and those close to them.

The Speaker noted that the loss of a young life was particularly devastating and urged leaders to come together to support the bereaved family during this difficult time.

He appealed to Members of Parliament to attend the burial and offer comfort to their colleague as he prepares to lay his son to rest.

“Today, I joined the family of Hon. William Kamket and Immaculate Kassait in mourning the sudden passing of their son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr.,” Wetang’ula said.

“In sharing in the pain of the loss, I reminded the family to draw strength from the Lord to ease the pain and help them come to terms with his passing.”

In his message of condolence, the Speaker offered prayers for the departed, expressing hope that the family would find comfort in faith.

“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him,” he concluded in his message.

The death of Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr. has elicited an outpouring of grief from leaders, with many sending messages of condolence to the family.

The 13-year-old, who passed away at a hospital in Nairobi on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, had been battling asthma, according to family sources.

He fell ill over the weekend after developing breathing difficulties and was placed on medication, but tragically passed away around 8 a.m.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that narrows airways and causes coughing, wheezing, and breathing difficulties.

The deceased was named “Ballot” because he was born while his mother, Immaculate Kassait, was serving at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), overseeing voter registration and electoral operations during the 2013 General Elections.

President William Ruto expressed his condolences saying, “We extend our sincere condolences to Hon. William Kamket and his family following the loss of their beloved son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr. It is deeply painful to lose a young life filled with promise and potential. We stand with you and support you during this difficult time. Rest in Peace, Bill.”
