A suspect has been arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) over an alleged forgery scheme involving falsified academic credentials.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated that it acted on a prior stop order to block entry and effect the arrest.
Investigators said the individual is wanted over alleged offences of forgery and uttering a false document under the Penal Code.
Detectives allege the suspect forged a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics, purportedly issued in December 2008.
The falsified certificate is believed to have been used to secure employment.
Following the arrest, the suspect was held at Muthaiga Police Station before appearing in Milimani Law Courts, where he pleaded not guilty.
According to DCI, the court released him on a cash bail of Sh300,000 or a bond of Sh500,000 with a surety of the same amount.
The case is scheduled for mention on April 2, 2026, for pretrial directions.
The DCI said the arrest underscores ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of public service and curb fraudulent practices.
Police urged members of the public to report suspected criminal activity through anonymous tip lines, reiterating their commitment to accountability and justice.
