The High Court in Nairobi has issued temporary orders restraining former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko from publishing or disseminating alleged defamatory content against lawyer and political commentator Miguna Miguna.
In a ruling delivered at the Milimani Law Courts, the court granted interim relief sought by Miguna, certifying his application as urgent.
The court further directed that the pleadings be served and scheduled the matter for directions on May 5, 2026.
Pending the hearing and determination of the case, the judge allowed prayer three of the application, effectively issuing a temporary injunction against Sonko.
The order bars Sonko, his agents, or anyone acting on his behalf from publishing or spreading any statements deemed defamatory, scandalous, or malicious concerning Miguna.
The application also seeks the removal of already published content from various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
The ruling, signed by High Court Judge Janet Mulwa, warns that failure to comply with the court order will attract penal consequences.
The case now proceeds to a full hearing where both parties are expected to present their arguments.
