Early Life and Background
Baraka was born on December 13, 2000, in Kawempe, a suburb of Kampala, Uganda. He spent part of his childhood in the nearby Bwaise area before eventually rising to prominence in the country’s music industry. Kampala is widely regarded as the center of Uganda’s entertainment industry, where many young artists begin their careers.
The singer has previously spoken about his multicultural heritage. His father is Kenyan, while his mother is Rwandan, although he was born and raised in Uganda. Baraka has said that this mixed background influences how people perceive him, as he often receives greetings from different communities who recognize elements of their culture in him.
Rise in Uganda’s Music Industry
Baraka emerged as one of the young artists gaining attention in Uganda’s Afro-pop and Afrobeat scene. He began releasing music in the early 2020s and gradually built a following through streaming platforms and social media.
His breakthrough came with the song “Nana,” which helped introduce his music to a wider audience. Since then, he has released several projects and singles, including “Wrong Places,” which gained millions of streams shortly after its release.

The artist has explained in previous interviews that the music industry in Uganda can be difficult for emerging performers due to limited access to professional studios and high production costs. According to him, these challenges often prevent talented musicians from recording and releasing music at a professional level.

Personal Style and Public Image
Beyond his music, Baraka has also spoken about his fashion preferences and personal style. In interviews, he has described himself as someone who prefers casual clothing, often wearing baggy trousers and avoiding skinny jeans. He also said he likes clothing from African designers and values personal items that have sentimental meaning.
While his comment about not wearing underwear during childhood drew attention online, it was shared in a light-hearted context as part of a broader conversation about his upbringing and personal habits.
Today, Baraka continues to expand his career both in Uganda and internationally, performing in different countries and collaborating with artists across Africa as his profile in the music industry grows.
