Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said his team is making improvements to the Linda Mwananchi website after it experienced a busy launch and received a mix of feedback and issues.

In a post on Saturday, Sifuna said the website went live recently, attracting thousands of sign-ups from supporters.

He described the response as encouraging and said it reflected the energy needed to drive the initiative forward.

“What a start! Lindamwananchi.com went live yesterday, and thousands of you signed up. That’s the energy we need,” Sifuna wrote.

The senator noted that, alongside the positive response, the website also faced malicious attempts to interfere with its operations.

“Expectedly, there were thousands of malicious attacks on the website as well as hundreds of positive feedback on how we can improve,” he said.

He explained that his team decided to take the platform offline temporarily in order to address these issues and incorporate suggestions from users.

“We have taken the site offline to address the issues and incorporate your ideas. We ask for your patience, kidogo tu,” Sifuna said, urging supporters to remain patient while improvements are made.

The Linda Mwananchi platform is part of Sifuna’s broader political mobilisation efforts, which include the Linda Mwananchi caravan that has been engaging citizens across the country in recent months.

The platform allows supporters to register, share ideas, and participate in planning for upcoming political activities.

The project has also generated political debate, particularly within the Orange Democratic Movement, where Sifuna has been among the leaders openly critical of the party’s cooperation with the broad-based government arrangement.

The broad-based political framework has been associated with party leader Oburu Odinga, whose allies have supported working with the current administration through the Linda Ground Initiative.

Sifuna, however, has taken a more cautious stance toward the arrangement, positioning the Linda Mwananchi initiative as a platform aimed at engaging citizens directly.

According to Sifuna, the platform will also help his team measure the level of grassroots backing and develop strategies ahead of the next general election scheduled for 2027.

At the same time, the senator has previously downplayed calls from some supporters urging him to consider a presidential bid in the future.

He has stated that such decisions require careful planning and realistic political assessment.

Sifuna emphasised that elections are determined by actual votes.

For now, his team says it is focused on improving the website’s functionality before restoring full access to users.

The senator urged supporters to remain patient as the technical adjustments are completed, expressing optimism that the platform will soon resume operations.

“Have a good weekend,” Sifuna said at the end of his message.
