Fifteen counties in Kenya contribute the least to the country’s manufacturing sector, highlighting regional disparities in industrial development.
According to the Kenya Association of Manufacturers Regulatory Audit Report 2025, these counties have the lowest contribution to manufacturing Gross Value Added (GVA).
Counties with the smallest share, each contributing about 0.1 per cent, include Isiolo, Marsabit, Tana River, West Pokot, Mandera, Wajir, Lamu, Samburu and Garissa.
Other counties with slightly higher but still low contributions include Vihiga at 0.2 per cent, while Nyandarua, Turkana, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Taita-Taveta and Laikipia each contribute about 0.3 per cent.
Gross Value Added measures the value a sector adds to the economy through production activities.
The report notes that counties such as Nairobi and Kiambu remain the leading contributors to Kenya’s manufacturing sector.
