The devastating impact of recent flooding in Kenya has been laid bare in a report issued by Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku.

As of March 8, 2026, the country is grappling with a significant humanitarian crisis that has claimed 42 lives.

Nairobi County has emerged as the most affected region, accounting for twenty-six of those fatalities.

The scale of displacement is staggering, with approximately fifty thousand people forced from their homes due to the rising waters.

Beyond the loss of life, the physical and economic toll is extensive.

Reports indicate that nine individuals remain missing while over two hundred people have sustained injuries.

The agricultural sector has also suffered, with more than six hundred livestock reported dead. Infrastructure and personal property have not been spared, as one hundred seventy-two vehicles were swept away.

In response, the government has deployed search operations and committed to covering funeral costs and medical bills for the victims.
