Police data from the Economic Survey released in April paints a detailed picture of crime trends, with a total of 96,038 cases reported across various categories.
The most prevalent offences fall under “other offences against persons,” which account for 24,470 cases, indicating a significant burden of interpersonal crimes.
Stealing ranks as the second most reported offence at 16,430 cases, followed closely by other penal code offences at 15,380.
Crimes related to morality and dangerous drugs also feature prominently, with 6,995 and 6,907 cases, respectively, pointing to ongoing social and enforcement challenges.
Breaking offences, including burglary, recorded 5,074 cases, while criminal damage stood at 4,919.
Economic crimes, often linked to fraud and financial misconduct, accounted for 4,350 cases. Robbery, though serious, had comparatively fewer reports at 3,261.
The data underscores the need for targeted policing strategies, public awareness, and community engagement to address the most common and persistent crime categories.
