Detectives in Siaya County are investigating a shocking murder in which a man was punched and kicked to death during a dispute over a pair of shoes.

Police said the victim was attacked in Ndori and sustained severe blows during the assault. His body was later discovered lying inside his mother’s house long after the deadly confrontation.

According to investigators, the man suffered a swollen head from the kicks and punches inflicted during the attack. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Police said they are pursuing the victim’s brothers, who are believed to be linked to the fatal assault. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

In a separate incident in Maralal, Samburu County, a domestic dispute turned deadly after a middle-aged woman was fatally assaulted during a fight with her husband.

Police said Seiye Lenchalote was found unconscious on the floor following the attack on March 3. She was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Doctors said she had chest injuries allegedly inflicted using a rungu. The suspect fled after the incident and police have launched a search for him. The body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere in Kinna, Isiolo County, police have opened a murder investigation after a human skull was discovered in a grazing field.

A herder stumbled upon the skull in the Sabanza area while tending to his goats and reported the matter to authorities.

Police who visited the scene said no other body parts were found. There are suspicions the victim may have been attacked and later devoured by wild animals from the nearby Meru National Park.

The skull was moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, tragedy struck in Nyamarambe, Kisii County, after a two-year-old boy drowned in a water tank outside his family’s house.

Police said the toddler had been playing with his siblings when he slipped into the 100-litre tank that was full of water.

His mother later found him inside the tank, already drowned. The incident left the family devastated. The body was moved to the mortuary pending further procedures.

In Makueni Town, a police officer also died after a motorcycle accident.

Constable Samuel Kiarie of Mbooni East Sub-County headquarters succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in hospital after the crash.

His body was moved to the mortuary as authorities began the required procedures.
