A new 2024 survey in Kenya shows that most respondents prefer to retire between the ages of 60 and 64.
According to the Retirement Benefits Authority report released in February 2026, 55 per cent of those surveyed picked the 60–64 age bracket as their ideal retirement window.
Another 23 per cent said they would prefer to retire earlier, between 55 and 59 years.
The survey also found that 11 per cent favour retiring between 65 and 69, while five per cent would choose to work until after 70.
Only five per cent selected the 50–54 range, and just one per cent said they would like to retire before turning 50.
On life after work, 51 per cent of retirees said life in retirement is better compared to their working years.
Meanwhile, 27 per cent described it as about the same, while 22 per cent felt retirement life is not as good as when they were employed.
