Police in the Coast region have arrested several suspects and recovered forged land documents, narcotics and ammunition in an ongoing operation targeting criminal gangs.

In a statement posted on X, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the latest phase of the crackdown led to the arrest of three suspected criminals following actionable intelligence.

According to DCI, one suspect was found in possession of rounds of ammunition and a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotic drugs.

“Acting on credible intelligence, detectives arrested a suspect who was found in possession of three rounds of ammunition and a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotic drugs,” DCI stated.

Officers expanded the operation and apprehended two more individuals allegedly linked to the possession of forged land-related documents and other exhibits believed to be connected to criminal activities.

In a separate but related operation, police also arrested another suspect after conducting a search at a residence.

The search yielded packages of suspected cannabis sativa and cash in various denominations believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

The DCI said the intensified operation is part of broader efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in land fraud, narcotics trafficking and illegal possession of ammunition in the Coast region.

“The fight against crime, narcotics trafficking and substance abuse remains a top priority in the Coast region and across the country,” the agency said.

The latest arrests come barely days after detectives nabbed six other suspected gang members in a similar intelligence-led operation across the Coast region on February 20, 2026.

In that earlier crackdown, officers recovered crude weapons and narcotics believed to have been used in violent robberies and intimidation linked to the notorious “panga boys” gangs.

Security agencies have since sustained pressure on the networks, saying the back-to-back arrests signal a broader strategy to dismantle organised criminal structures that have recently unsettled parts of Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale.

Members of the public have been urged to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could aid investigations.

The DCI encouraged residents to report suspicious activities anonymously through its toll-free and WhatsApp reporting channels, assuring the public that their safety remains a top priority as efforts to restore calm continue.
