Veteran gospel musician Jimmy Gait is recovering in the hospital after a violent encounter on Sunday morning. The singer was targeted by attackers in the upscale Runda neighbourhood, leaving him with significant physical injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 am on 22nd February 2026. News of the assault was first shared by his close friend and gospel deck-master, DJ Mo, via a social media post that quickly went viral.

A Narrow Escape from Death

Jimmy Gait appeared in a video shortly after the ordeal, visibly distressed and covered in blood. He described a terrifying struggle for his life, confirming that his attackers had inflicted multiple wounds.

"Iwas attacked... they’ve hurt me so badly. You can see I’m full of blood all over," he stated in the footage.

The attackers reportedly used sharp weapons during the confrontation. Gait suffered deep cuts to his hands, and his fingers were severely injured.

The singer expressed profound shock at the intensity of the violence, noting that he felt he had come face-to-face with his own end.

"I just saw death with my own eyes. It’s only by God’s grace I’ve survived. Please pray for me." — Jimmy Gait.

Emergency Treatment and Fraud Warning

Following the attack, Gait was rushed to St. Teresa Thindigua to receive urgent medical attention. Beyond the physical injuries, the singer was also robbed of his mobile phone.

DJ Mo issued a "viewers' discretion" warning when sharing the news, highlighting the brutal nature of the crime.

He also alerted the public to be cautious of any messages coming from Gait’s numbers.

"Be aware of any exploitation because they took his phone," DJ Mo cautioned his followers. He urged the gospel community and fans alike to keep the singer in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
