National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has urged ODM supporters to remain united and loyal to the party’s ideals as it intensifies grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a rally in Siaya County, Junet said the party had successfully delivered a strong message of unity, fidelity and commitment to the core principles established by its founding leadership.

“We have delivered our message of party unity, loyalty and fidelity to the core principles of the ODM Party,” he said.

The Suna East MP expressed concern over individuals he said were seeking to mislead party supporters while invoking the legacy of the late party leader.

“We have addressed attempts to mislead our party supporters by those presenting themselves under other banners while referring to the name of our late Party Leader,” Junet said, in remarks seen as directed at politicians engaging with rival political formations.

Without naming specific individuals, he also referred to leaders he described as conflicted or compromised, saying the party would no longer accommodate those whose actions undermine its objectives.

“We are on course to ensure that those demonstrating conflicting or compromised interests will not openly present themselves under ODM party colours,” he said.

Junet maintained that despite internal tensions and shifting political alliances across the country, ODM remains strong both at the grassroots and within national power structures.

“Our party is stronger on the ground and more entrenched in the rooms of power than ever before,” he added.

The Minority Leader said the party is currently focused on consolidating its support base, strengthening internal structures and preparing a formidable political machinery for the next electoral cycle.

"As we consolidate, strengthen and build for 2027, I urge our supporters to remain firm and unmoved, because we shall triumph,” he said.

His remarks come amid heightened political activity within opposition strongholds.

The ODM faction led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna held a parallel rally in Kakamega.

In a show of differences within the party, Siaya Governor James Orengo declared during the event that he will henceforth take political direction on party matters from Sifuna, the party's Secretary General.

This, as he expressed confidence that a growing political wave within the ODM will spread across the country.

“Mambo ya chama mimi nitamsikiza tu Edwin Sifuna (On matters of the party, I will listen to Edwin Sifuna)," Orengo told the crowd.

Sifuna announced that the party’s nationwide mobilisation tours will temporarily pause in respect of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

“Sisi tumeombwa na ndugu zetu Waislamu kwamba, kwa sababu ya mwezi wa Ramadhan, tupumzike kidogo, halafu tukimaliza Ramadhan, tutaenda Mombasa,” he said.

(Our Muslim brothers and sisters have requested that, because of the month of Ramadan, we take a short break, and after Ramadan we will proceed with our tour in Mombasa)
