The sound truck gifted to Sifuna for Linda Mwananchi tours on February 20 /HANDOUT

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and organisers of Linda Mwananchi tour have been gifted a sound system by one of their supporters as the Linda Mwananchi tour heads to Amalemba ground in Kakamega county this weekend.

Goons damaged the Linda Mwananchi tour’s sound system last week on Sunday in Kitengela, Kajiado county.

Police were forced to throw tear gas into the crowd and sound equipment was destroyed before the meeting started.

In a post on X, Sifuna wrote, “We saw you struggling with sound.” The post signaled a message from the gifter.

The truck, which is already on its way to Kakamega encountered a mishap in Riat, Kisumu county after it was attacked by goons.

“Ishabatizwa… Our crew reporting that state sponsored goons struck just after Riat in Kisumu… lakini safari itaendelea,” Sifuna wrote on X.

The ODM secretary general was sacked last week by the party’s National Executive Committtee.

Sifuna, however, obtained a stay order from the Political Parties Tribunal, which halted his removal.

The tribunal certified Sifuna’s case as urgent and suspended the implementation of the resolution.

Busia Woman Representative had been appointed as the party’s acting secretary general.

Speaking at a press briefing in Nairobi earlier, Sifuna insisted he remains the party’s validly elected secretary general.

“I was not given a chance to defend myself,” he said, asserting that the NEC’s action violated party’s procedures.

Sifuna maintained that he remains committed to ODM and its founding ideals, vowing to continue defending the party.

“Whatever actions I take, I will do so knowing that I have never let down my leader, Raila. We shall fight for ODM; surrender is not an option for us. I remain a loyal member and the duly elected secretary general of ODM,” he said.
