Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has alleged that a sound truck donated to support the Linda Mwananchi tour was stoned in Riat, Kisumu County, just hours after it had been gifted to his team.

In a statement shared online, the Nairobi Senator claimed the truck’s windscreen was hit after unknown individuals hurled stones at the vehicle.

According to Sifuna, the incident happened in the Riat area within Kisumu as the vehicle made its way to Kakamega County ahead of the scheduled Linda Mwananchi tour stop.

The sound truck had been handed over earlier in the day by a supporter who said the donation was meant to help address sound challenges experienced in previous rallies.

The donor had accompanied the gift with a message of solidarity, noting they had seen the team struggle with sound equipment during past engagements.

Images shared by Sifuna showed the truck parked by the roadside with its front windscreen visibly cracked.

He termed the incident an act of intimidation aimed at silencing their movement but insisted the tour would proceed as planned.

“We will not be intimidated. The Linda Mwananchi tour will continue,” he said.

The latest incident adds to a series of challenges that have faced the grassroots mobilisation campaign in recent weeks, including disruptions and confrontations reported in earlier stops.

Supporters online reacted with anger, with some condemning the attack and calling for investigations, while others expressed concern over rising political tensions linked to public rallies.

However, there was no immediate confirmation from police regarding the incident or the identity of those behind the alleged attack.

The sound truck is expected to play a central role in amplifying speeches and mobilising crowds during the Kakamega rally, particularly after recent efforts to improve logistics and ensure smoother engagements.

The incident is likely to heighten attention on the Linda Mwananchi tour, which has been drawing crowds and sparking political debate in equal measure.
