The couple tied the knot in 2020 in a low-key ceremony that cost roughly KSh 300,000. Bien shared that the intimate wedding, attended by only 50 guests at the Registrar of Marriages, had a strict “no phones” policy to allow them to savour the moment without distractions from social media.
The couple even held their reception at a friend’s pub to avoid unnecessary expenses, prioritising their future over an elaborate one-day event.
Maintaining Her Own Path
Speaking on the Two Peas In A Pod YouTube channel, Chiki explained that while she manages Bien’s career, she is committed to developing her own.
“I am very aware of what Bien means to Kenya, and I didn’t want to mess it up. I love him deeply and respect his craft, which is incredibly important to me. But I also had to think about what would happen to me if something went wrong,” she said.
Chiki highlighted the importance of having a personal fallback plan. “That’s why I have never stopped dancing or pursuing my own projects. God knows what tomorrow holds. Now, Bien has reached spaces where he’s the first to enter, but there’s potential for it to grow even further,” she added.

She also reflected on public perception of artists and managers, noting that when mistakes happen, fans often blame the manager, while successes are credited to the artist.
She referenced South African singer Tyla, who faced backlash for a misunderstood joke, as an example.
Juggling Marriage and Management
Chiki described the unique challenges of combining her role as a wife with her professional responsibilities. “Being his manager means long days, high pressure, and multiple responsibilities. But being his wife adds another layer to the dynamic,” she said with a laugh.

She emphasised the importance of separating personal and professional life. “What I’ve learned is to keep our private matters private.
On stage, we represent Africa with the band and dancers. When we’re performing or in public, it’s not about arguing over little things at home—it’s about being fully present in the moment.”
The Toll Behind the Scenes
While touring the world has strengthened their bond, Chiki admitted the workload can be overwhelming. “I sometimes wish someone else could manage him.
Touring is incredible, but it’s exhausting handling management, planning, and PR all at once. After a show abroad, while others rest, I’m already planning the next concert back home. It leaves little room to even tell him, ‘Well done,’” she said.

Despite the challenges, Chiki continues to navigate her dual roles, balancing support for Bien’s career with the pursuit of her own passions—showcasing the dedication, resilience, and love that underpin their partnership.
