TECNO Mobile has announced the local availability of its CAMON 50 series, introducing the CAMON 50 Pro to Kenya’s increasingly competitive mid-range smartphone market.

The launch comes at a time when buyers are weighing camera quality, performance and price more carefully, as inflation and rising living costs continue to shape purchasing decisions.

TECNO says the CAMON 50 Pro is aimed at users who rely heavily on their phones for photography, content creation and everyday productivity. At the centre of the device is a camera system built around motion capture and zoom capabilities.

The phone includes 3X Super-Zoom FlashSnap, designed to reduce blur when photographing fast-moving subjects such as sports or live events.

It also supports AI-powered 60X zoom for distant shots, alongside AI HD Enhancement, which automatically adjusts brightness and detail without requiring external editing apps.

Beyond photography, the CAMON 50 Pro integrates several AI tools meant to support daily tasks. These include video and document summaries, note-taking features, and basic health-tracking functions, positioning the phone as both a communication device and a lightweight productivity assistant.

TECNO has also introduced its AI Hub 2026 platform on the handset, which the company says helps manage multitasking and system performance based on user habits, rather than relying purely on hardware specifications. The device is being marketed toward social media users and creators, with features such as fast autofocus and stabilized motion capture intended to simplify photo and video production.

TECNO says it has focused on delivering consistent day-to-day performance, including smooth app switching and sustained battery efficiency, areas where budget and mid-tier phones often struggle.

Design is another selling point, with the CAMON 50 Pro adopting a more premium finish compared to some rivals in the same price bracket, which typically compromise on build quality to keep costs down.

In Kenya, the CAMON 50 Pro is retailing from KES 38,999, placing it squarely in the mid-range segment. At that price, TECNO is betting that a combination of advanced camera features, AI tools and refined design will appeal to consumers looking for flagship-style experiences without paying top-tier prices.

The CAMON 50 series is now available nationwide through authorised retailers.
