Legendary Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone has reached out to his fans with a health update after undergoing a successful eye operation.

The 48-year-old singer revealed he had been facing a serious threat to his vision.

On Tuesday, 17 February, the Leone Island star took to social media to share the news with his followers on X and Instagram. The update comes after a period of silence regarding his recent medical status.

A Brave Face Post-Surgery

In a photo shared on his Instagram, Chameleone appeared in high spirits. The image shows the singer wearing a clean white t-shirt and a heavy gold chain around his neck.

A large, circular white bandage is taped securely over his eye, held in place by medical strips. Despite the clinical setting, Chameleone is seen sporting a wide, bright smile.

A History of Health Battles

This latest medical procedure follows a string of health scares for the "Valu Valu" hitmaker over the last few years. Many of these issues have been linked to severe abdominal complications, specifically affecting his liver and pancreas.

In early 2025, the singer’s health took a sharp turn when he was hospitalised at Nakasero Hospital with acute pancreatitis. Due to the severity of his condition at the time, he was eventually flown to the United States for more specialised treatment.

These previous illnesses compelled the musician to take a temporary break from his busy performing schedule, allowing his body time to recover.
