In a quiet, tension-filled outdoor sitting, Kenyan musician Bahati recently sat across from a woman who has spent months insisting she is his biological mother.
The encounter was a mix of spiritual ritual and deep confusion. For Bahati, the meeting challenged a history he thought was settled decades ago.
A Blessing Amidst Confusion
The meeting was deeply personal. The woman, visibly emotional, spoke of a biological connection that she feels physically.
"When I see you, I feel it in my stomach... it is my real child," she claimed during the exchange.
Bahati, known for his open relationship with his fans, shared the moment online. He noted that while he felt her pain and she sounded genuine, he was left feeling confused. He even asked his followers if they could see a physical resemblance between them.

"I have finally met “Mum” and all I can say I am left with more questions than answers… I am Confused. Could my mum be alive? Who is this woman? How do I get the truth?" Bahati asked.
A History Written in Stone
The reason for Bahati’s hesitation is rooted in a clear, painful memory. He has always known his mother to be Lucia Mueni, a Kamba woman from Wote in Makueni County.
According to the singer, his mother passed away when he was only seven years old.

At the time, Bahati was still in nursery school. He recalls not only the loss but the ceremony that followed. He attended and witnessed her burial himself. This creates a massive contradiction between the woman’s claims and the musician’s documented past.
A Story of Loss in Kangemi
The woman’s version of events is a harrowing tale of poverty and desperation. She claims she gave birth alone in Waruku after being rejected by her parents. Struggling to survive, she says she shared a room with another girl who eventually told her she could no longer stay there with a baby.

Driven by a lack of food and money, she reportedly took the infant to a hospital in Kangemi. She says she was told the child would be cared for and that she could return once she found work.
However, she claims that when she finally returned with money, the child was gone, and the staff told her he was no longer there.
Seeking the Truth Through Science
Despite the conflicting histories, both parties seem desperate for a resolution. The woman stated she is ready for any test to prove her claim, including a DNA test, to finally find peace.
Bahati echoed this sentiment, questioning how he might finally uncover the truth.
As it stands, the singer remains caught between the memory of the mother he buried and the presence of a woman who refuses to let him go. For now, the "truth" remains as elusive as ever.
