Shabana FC skipper George 'Dizzo' Onyango during a past KPL match/SHABANA George 'Dizzo' Onyango, captain of Shabana FC, says his side is ready to secure maximum points when they face Posta Rangers at Wang’uru Stadium on Saturday.
The Kisii-based Glamour Boys have been one of the league’s most consistent sides since promotion, finishing in the top five last season. Onyango believes the current squad has the experience, talent, and mentality to challenge for the title.
“We have been working hard in training, and the squad is in good shape. Saturday is another chance to show what we are capable of,” Onyango told reporters.

The captain highlighted the team’s resilience and collective mentality as key to their rise.
“This team has shown it can compete with anyone. We have beaten strong sides, drawn tough matches, and shown character,” Onyango said, praising the coaching staff for instilling discipline and tactical awareness.
Saturday’s fixture is vital for Shabana to maintain pressure on the leaders. Posta, struggling in 11th place with 24 points, will be a tough opponent, but Onyango is confident.
“We respect them, but we also know our strengths. Our plan is to play our game, control possession, and be clinical in front of goal,” he said.
He emphasised that mental preparation is as crucial as physical readiness.
“Football is not just about skill. It’s about focus, concentration, and mental toughness. We’ve worked on staying composed under pressure,” Onyango added, noting that the team has analysed Posta’s recent matches to exploit weaknesses.
Onyango also spoke about his leadership role in motivating younger players.
“As captain, I encourage the younger guys to stay focused, work hard, and remain disciplined. That mentality spreads across the team,” he said.
With morale high, Onyango is optimistic about Shabana’s chances in the remaining season fixtures.
“We believe in ourselves. We have the players, the tactics, and the determination. Saturday is the next step on that journey, and we are ready.”
The clash promises an exciting encounter as Shabana aim to consolidate their top-three position and keep their Kenyan Premier League title ambitions alive.
