Aston Villa vs Arsenal

Monday night Football serves up a fascinating tactical battle as defending champions Arsenal visit Unai Emery's Aston Villa.
Villa's campaign could hardly have begun worse. A chaotic 4-0 hammering by Brighton exposed defensive frailties and left Emery with plenty of questions heading into his reunion with former club Arsenal.
The Gunners, meanwhile, looked every inch the reigning champions in a commanding 3-0 victory over promoted Coventry City. Mikel Arteta's side remain devastating in transition, disciplined without the ball and ruthless away from home.
Emery's selection headache is severe. João Gomes is suspended after his red card, while Amadou Onana, Brian Madjo and Johan Manzambi are all unavailable, leaving Villa short on both quality and depth.
Arsenal have been boosted by the seamless arrival of Bruno Guimarães, whose composed debut added another layer of control to an already formidable midfield.
History also favours the visitors. Arsenal have won 20 of the last 34 meetings, including a convincing 4-1 victory in their most recent league clash in December 2025.

Friday night in Ligue 1 brings an intriguing showdown as Davide Ancelotti's rejuvenated Lille welcome champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Lille made an impressive start under their new boss, defeating Angers 2-0 thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Tiago Santos, immediately signalling a fresh sense of purpose.
PSG's opening week was less convincing. Despite lifting the Uefa Super Cup earlier this month, Luis Enrique's men were forced to fight back from 2-0 down to salvage a 2-2 draw against Rennes, with Ferran Torres announcing himself through a brilliant debut brace.
The head-to-head record overwhelmingly favours the Parisians, who have won eight of the last 10 meetings, with the remaining two ending level. Last season produced a 1-1 draw before PSG cruised to a 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture.
However, Lille haven't forgotten how to trouble the champions at home, their famous 5-1 demolition of PSG in April 2019 remains their last home victory in this fixture. With confidence growing under Ancelotti and PSG still finding their rhythm, the hosts have every chance of taking a point.
