KCB forward Boniface Omondi during a past KPL match/KCB
KCB’s fleet-footed forward Boniface ‘Bajaj’ Omondi is confident the Nairobi-based bankers will secure all three points when they face Kariobangi Sharks at Moi Stadium, Kasarani, on Sunday.
Despite an inconsistent season, Omondi believes KCB have the talent and firepower to get the job done. The team has recorded eight wins, four draws, and seven losses in 19 matches, but past results won’t define Sunday’s clash.

“We know this season has been up and down, but each game is a new opportunity,” Omondi said. “Sharks are coming off a tough run, but we are confident in our squad. We have the pace, skill, and hunger to take the three points.”
Omondi joined KCB from Gor Mahia at the start of the season and has quickly become a pivotal player.

“I have settled in well with the team,” he said. “I understand the system, and the chemistry with my teammates is growing. That’s important because Sunday will demand teamwork and sharpness.”
Sharks have struggled near the relegation zone but have shown signs of improvement. Omondi, however, is not underestimating them.
“Sharks are dangerous. They may have struggled before, but they can surprise,” he said. “We cannot go in thinking it will be easy. They press high, and their counter-attack is fast. We have to be alert from the first whistle.”
KCB’s attack has been inconsistent this season, sometimes failing to convert chances. Omondi says the team is determined to finish well.
“We have missed some opportunities in recent games,” he explained. “On Sunday, we must be clinical. We create chances, and if we don’t take them, it will cost us. I am confident we can finish well and get the win.”
He also stressed the importance of teamwork. “The connection with our midfield is getting stronger. When we combine well and make the right runs, we create space and openings. That will be crucial against Sharks.”
Defensively, KCB must stay alert to counterattacks. “Sharks like to exploit gaps, especially on the wings. We must track runs, communicate, and stay organised. Defending as a unit gives us a platform to attack safely.”
Reflecting on the season, Omondi said: “We have learned from every defeat. Each loss teaches us how to defend better, finish chances, and control games. That experience is valuable for Sunday. We know what it takes to win.”
Playing at home is also an advantage. “The fans motivate us. We want to make them proud, and their support can lift the team when moments get tough,” he said.
Omondi’s personal goal is simple: help the team win. “I want to contribute goals and assists. My focus is not just on scoring, but on getting the team three points.”
He concluded: “We fight together. We win together, we lose together. On Sunday, we will show that we are a team ready to challenge anyone in the league.”
