Kenyan Afro electro-pop sensation Mutoriah has shared his unique perspective on love and celebrations.
During an appearance on the Tribe47 show on TV47 Kenya, the artist spoke with host Shiksha Arora about his career and his approach to Valentine’s Day.
The producer and singer, known for his soulful melodies, suggested that a memorable Valentine’s Day does not require expensive presents. Instead, he focused on a single, powerful concept: consideration.
Beyond the Gift Box
Mutoriah admitted that he has rarely received gifts on Valentine’s Day himself. While he has been gifted instruments and microphones for his birthday, the romantic holiday has often been a normal working day for him. However, his views on the day have evolved.

“I’ve learned a new word in this new season called consideration. It’s not about the price tag; It’s about showing your person that you care and paying attention to what makes them happy,” Mutoriah explained during the interview.

He noted that while the day might not have held much personal meaning in the past, he now sees it as an important time to show love through thoughtfulness.
“I think it’s important to consider your person and I think it’s a good day to show love. Even small gestures, when done with intention, can make someone feel truly appreciated,” he said.
The Wealth of Connection
This philosophy aligns with the theme of his latest album, "We Don't Need Money to Be Rich." Mutoriah believes that happiness and richness are not defined by financial status.
He even noted a coincidence where billionaire Elon Musk tweeted a similar sentiment shortly after the album's release.
For Mutoriah, making a day memorable is about empathy and listening. He views his music as a tool for connection rather than just a commercial product. He writes with the intention of impacting souls and making people feel something unique.
“The work of an artist is not making songs; it is to speak to people and speak to souls.”
Impact by the Numbers
Mutoriah’s approach to "speaking to souls" has resonated with a massive audience. His track "Better Space" has achieved significant milestones:
• 7.5 million streams on Spotify.
• 11 million views on YouTube.
• 10 years of professional experience in the music industry.

These statistics highlight the reach of his message. He shared that he recently received a message from a fan who described his music as feeling like a hug. For the artist, this emotional impact is the true measure of success.
