The Coast region has been a key political battleground, and the Lamu stop attracted crowds comprising local leaders, youth groups, and party supporters.

Junet, who serves as the National Assembly Minority Leader, waved to residents as he rode alongside Governor Abdulswamad. The donkey ride, a rare spectacle in contemporary political events, drew excitement among locals, many of whom recorded the moment on their mobile phones.

Upon arrival at the venue, the leaders addressed the gathering, reiterating the party’s commitment to land rights, economic empowerment, and inclusive development in the coastal region. They urged residents to remain united and to support ODM’s agenda as the tour continues across other counties.

Governor Abdulswamad praised the turnout in Lamu, describing it as a demonstration of the Coast’s continued support for the party. Junet, on his part, called for sustained grassroots mobilisation, saying the Linda Ground initiative was aimed at strengthening the party from the ward level upwards.

Security was heightened during the event, with police officers deployed to manage the crowds and ensure order throughout the procession and subsequent rally.

The Lamu event marks another stop in ODM’s ongoing coastal tour, which has seen party leaders traverse several counties to engage supporters directly at the grassroots level.
