The agricultural sector remains the largest employer of youth, though it is characterised by a notable gender gap.

Approximately 2.7 million young women are engaged in agriculture, surpassing the 2.37 million young men in the same field. This highlights the central role women play in the country’s food systems and rural economies.

Conversely, the industrial sector shows a stark disparity in the opposite direction. Male participation in industry stands at over 1.16 million, while female representation is significantly lower at roughly 241,800. This suggests that young men are nearly five times more likely to find employment in manufacturing and construction than their female counterparts.
