According to the University of Nairobi’s 2025 report by the Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (CEMA), total external funding for health in Kenya fell sharply in the financial year 2025/26.

External contributions declined from Sh126 billion previously to Sh54 billion after major donors, including the United States, withdrew or reduced support.

This drop highlights Kenya’s heavy reliance on external aid for its health sector and raises concerns about financing for key programmes like HIV, TB and malaria treatment.
