Geoffrey Mosiria, a senior official with the Nairobi County government, has sparked an intense online debate after issuing a stern warning to men regarding their partners' fitness routines.
In a detailed social media post, Mosiria suggested that for many, the local gym has become a breeding ground for infidelity and emotional betrayal.
The Gap of Attention
The core of Mosiria's argument focuses on the lifestyle of rich and hardworking men. He noted that many men spend their days attending meetings and accumulating wealth, often leaving home early and returning late and exhausted.

“At first, it looks innocent and healthy. But behind the scenes, there is a reality many men are too busy to notice,” Mosiria said.
According to the official, this focus on professional success often leaves wives and girlfriends feeling lonely at home. He argued that this loneliness creates emotional gaps that are eventually filled by gym instructors.
"The gym instructor is not only training your wife or girlfriend sometimes he is also giving her the attention, time, and care that she doesn't get from you."
From Fitness to Attachment
Mosiria described a gradual process where a trainer transitions from a fitness professional to a confidant and an emotional replacement. He claimed that what begins as a simple health goal can slowly turn into a deep emotional attachment.
“What started as fitness slowly becomes attachment. She comes home tired but emotionally distant. Since you are also busy looking for money and building wealth, you don’t even have time for her,” he added.
The official warned that this shift often results in a physical and emotional distance within the home.

He described a scenario where couples may share a bed but sleep "facing the wall," with only their backs meeting.
Furthermore, he raised concerns about the financial implications of these alleged affairs. He suggested that in some cases, the money a man works hard to earn may end up financing another man’s lifestyle gifts, favours, and support.

Health and Safety Warnings
Beyond the emotional toll, Mosiria’s post touched on serious health concerns. He warned that these secret relationships could expose families to STDs, if not HIV/AIDS in particular.
He stated that many homes in modern society are breaking down, not due to poverty, but because of neglect, secrecy, and hidden lifestyles.
"Protect your relationship the same way you protect your wealth. Because money can be recovered. Trust cannot."
Advice for Partners
While Mosiria clarified that his message is not an attack on gyms or fitness, he urged men to be more vigilant. He offered several recommendations for maintaining boundaries:
• Make impromptu visits: He suggested showing up at the gym unannounced to observe "body language" and look for signs of unusual closeness or nervousness.
• Go together: If possible, couples should attend gym sessions as a pair.
• Home workouts: He recommended setting up a gym at home to avoid external risks.
• Female instructors: If a professional is needed, he suggested hiring a lady instructor in a controlled environment.
Mosiria concluded by stating he is not afraid to tell the world the pure truth if it helps save even one marriage from heartbreak or disease.
