In a significant move towards promoting sustainable development, Sustainable Inclusive Business Kenya (SIB-K) has inked a one-year content partnership with Radio Africa Group, enabling The Star newspaper to publish a monthly Circular Economy and Climate Change journal.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster climate action and advocate for the circular economy in Kenya.
“Today marks an important milestone in our shared journey towards a more sustainable, regenerative, and inclusive future,” Project Director at Sustainable Inclusive Business Kenya and the Kenya Plastics Pact Karin Boomsma stated.
“By signing this partnership between Sustainable Inclusive Business Kenya and Radio Africa Group, we are choosing a path aligned with the future we want to create—one grounded in awareness, accountability, and collective action," he said.
Radio Africa Group Editorial Director Paul Ilado welcomed the partnership, stating, “This collaboration represents a fantastic opportunity for us to contribute to the ongoing discourse on climate change and sustainability. We hope that the journal will encourage informed conversations and meaningful action among our readers.”
The newly established journal aims to deliver science-aligned and solutions-driven narratives about climate action and the circular economy, emphasising the need for systemic change.
Boomsma emphasised the importance of community engagement, saying, “Our goal is to bring the voices of innovators, communities, researchers, and businesses into the national conversation.
System transformation is not possible if people do not understand why change is needed.” The Circular Economy and Climate Change Journal will be published on the last Tuesday of every month.
It aims to engage a wide readership that includes policymakers, industry leaders, investors, development partners, academia, and the general public.
As Kenya accelerates its transition towards a green and inclusive economy, the journal is set to serve as a vital platform for thought leadership, evidence-based reporting, and the promotion of climate-smart solutions.
The journal will cover a plethora of thematic areas essential for driving Kenya’s sustainability agenda.
Key topics include: Circular economy innovations and case studies, Green manufacturing and industrial transition, Renewable energy and green investments, Waste management and sustainable consumption, Climate finance and green jobs, Agriculture, biodiversity, and nature-based solutions, Urban sustainability and infrastructure, Youth, women, and community climate leadership, Policy, research, and technology, as well as Partnerships and global perspectives.
All content will also be distributed through an e-paper and hosted on a dedicated microsite within The Star’s website.
This microsite will feature a distinct landing page, showcasing the collaboration while capitalising on The Star’s digital infrastructure and audience reach.
The microsite will be designed for optimal user experience, ensuring that articles are accessible through direct links, as well as search engines and The Star’s website navigation.
This will sustain visibility beyond print and e-paper editions, allowing for a more extensive outreach.
Content will be uploaded to the microsite simultaneously with the e-paper release, ensuring that each article is optimised for digital consumption.
The distribution strategy includes sharing across The Star’s various digital platforms, including social media and newsletters, to reach an even wider audience.
The partnership will allow various stakeholders to highlight impactful projects, policies, investments, research, and success stories that are pivotal in shaping Kenya’s sustainability agenda.
By bringing these narratives to the forefront, SIB-K and Radio Africa Group aim to inspire action and galvanise support for initiatives addressing climate change.
As Kenya continues to confront the pressing challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, this partnership is a timely intervention that brings together media, business, and civic engagement to foster a greener future.
