Popular Kenyan influencer Miss Trudy and her Ghanaian husband, Wode Maya, have shared the news of their pregnancy after a long and difficult journey.
The couple, both famous content creators, recently ended a social media hiatus to reveal they are expecting a child. Their path to parenthood was marked by years of silence and repeated loss.
The Rare Medical Reason
During an interview with broadcaster Bola Ray, Wode Maya explained the specific reason for their struggles. He revealed that Miss Trudy was diagnosed with a bicornuate womb, often called a heart-shaped womb.

While she could conceive, the baby could not grow to full term. Maya explained that as the baby became larger, the shape of the womb would "surprise" the baby and force it out. To fix this, Miss Trudy underwent a corrective surgery in Ghana.
“Anytime the baby grows bigger, the heart-shaped womb suppresses the baby and brings the baby out. So, you have to correct the heart-shaped womb, and I had to do the surgery and all of that. She lost a lot of pregnancies,” he explained.
Why the United States?
The couple faced public criticism for choosing to give birth in America. However, Wode Maya clarified that the decision was based on medical necessity rather than a lack of patriotism.
Their doctor in Ghana managed the pregnancy for the first six months.

“I saw so many people saying, ' Why did your wife give birth in America if you're an African. People attacking me, all that the doctor here took my wife from the first month to 6 months.”
However, the doctor eventually recommended that they travel to the US. The reason was the availability of advanced life-saving equipment.
"The doctor here... is like Maya, I’ve done my part. If the baby comes down in America, maybe they have the machines. The doctor recommended now Ihave to fly my wife business class again, out of 6 months pregnant. Just get her there."

A Timeline of Loss
The couple’s struggle began in September 2021. Doctors told them that having children might not be possible. Despite this news, Wode Maya proposed to Miss Trudy in December of that year. They married in September 2022, on the same date Miss Trudy had lost her mother 13 years earlier.
Over the following years, the couple experienced six heartbreaking miscarriages. Miss Trudy admitted the emotional toll was immense, stating she felt depressed and had lost hope.
"After 6 heartbreaking failed attempts at getting kids over the years, in 2025, we became pregnant again."
A Testimony of Hope
To ensure the safety of the child, Wode Maya flew his wife to the US in business class during her sixth month of pregnancy. He described the entire experience as an expensive and "insane" challenge.
Despite the high costs and the online trolls, the couple views their success as a testimony of resilience.Wode Maya noted that his baby is his "seventh," a number he connects to the seven days it took him to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
