In a turn of events that has captured the attention of the public, Prophet Victor Kanyari has publicly supported Marion Naipei, the young woman at the centre of a trending viral video.

During a recent church service, the preacher gifted the 23-year-old mother of one KSh 50,000 in cash to help her rebuild her life.

The Financial Blessing

Following the emotional exchange, Kanyari handed Naipei wads of cash totalling Ksh 50,000.

“It’s not the right time to condemn her, we’re supposed to support her, and today, because she’s my friend, I’m blessing her with Ksh 50k,” Kanyari said while handing over the cash to her.

Prophet Kanyari linked his decision to help Naipei to his own past experiences with public scandals. He told his followers that because of his history, he had vowed never to underrate people and to always stand with the vulnerable.

“When you stand with the poor, God will stand with you. When I was involved in the viral 310 scandal, I told God, there’s no day I will underrate people, I will always stand with them.”

A Display of Vulnerability

Marion Naipei appeared visibly overwhelmed as she stood on the pulpit. Throughout the sermon, she was seen shedding tears, a sight that eventually prompted Kanyari to pause his preaching.

The Prophet noted that he had been watching her cry since the start of the service.

In a moment of raw emotion, Naipei struggled to compose herself, prompting Kanyari to offer her a hug before the congregation. He expressed his sympathy for her situation, stating that he understood the pressures she had faced.

"This girl has trended a lot, but I understand. I say it is life. She was trying to please that man to see if she could get something. She is a single mother of one. What did you want her to do?” Kanyari posed.

Context of the Viral Incident

This public show of support follows Naipei’s recent interview with content creator 2Mbili. In that interview, she defended the dress she wore on the day she was recorded without her consent. She explained that the outfit was intended to be "sexy" for a first date at a club.

Naipei stated that the dress appeared shorter than it actually was due to her movement and physique. She met the man involved, James Opande, on the dating app Tinder in April 2025. She alleges that she was drugged and intoxicated when the footage was taken.

The Toll of the Scandal

The aftermath of the video has been severe for the young mother. She revealed to 2Mbili that the trauma led her to attempt suicide by ingesting cleaning agents.

Additionally, the scandal resulted in her being evicted from her home and disowned by certain family members.

Naipei is currently seeking legal justice against Opande, having reported the matter to the police at JKIA.
