The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has called for a meeting of all party aspirants seeking to contest elective positions in the 2027 General Election.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar said the UDA Aspirants Forum will take place on February 4, 2026, in Nairobi.
The meeting follows a resolution by the party’s National Steering Committee (NSC).
The circular stated that the forum is open to registered aspirants intending to vie for any elective seat under the party ticket in 2027. Registration will be conducted through the party’s website.
“Pursuant to a resolution of the National Steering Committee (NSC) on January 20, 2026, the Secretary-General hereby convenes the UDA Aspirants Forum to be held on February 4, 2026, at State House Nairobi from 8am for all aspirants who intend to contest for any elective position in the 2027 General Elections under the UDA party ticket,” the statement read.
“Aspirants may register on the party website from today.”
Omar said the forum would provide a platform to engage prospective candidates on party processes and upcoming political activities.
UDA, which forms the core of the ruling coalition, has been positioning itself for an early start in the election cycle, including internal organisation and membership drives as political formations across the country begin to take shape.
Earlier, the party announced repeat grassroots elections in select polling centres across 42 counties after reviewing reports from its internal electoral bodies.
UDA Secretary-General Omar said the decision was reached during an NSC meeting held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, and chaired by party leader President William Ruto.
The NSC considered reports from the National Elections Board (NEB) and the Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) on the recently concluded grassroots elections, which were conducted in three phases.
Phase II took place in June 2025, while Phase III was held in January 2026.
The elections covered 42 counties.
Following rulings by the ENDRC and a resolution by the National Executive Committee (NEC), the party resolved to conduct repeat elections in selected polling centres.
The repeat polls for Phase III are scheduled for March 7, 2026, while those for Phase II will be held on March 28, 2026.
UDA also announced the opening of registration for aspirants seeking various positions at polling centre level.
Registration began on Wednesday via the party’s official website, with the party encouraging interested members to apply.
In light of developments around the grassroots elections, the party will convene a special National General Council (NGC) meeting on Monday, January 26, 2026, at State House, Nairobi. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am and will be chaired by President Ruto.
The NGC brings together all UDA elected and nominated leaders, including governors, deputy governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, women representatives, members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), and members of county assemblies.
