Nollywood star Mercy Johnson has spoken publicly about her decision to withdraw defamation charges against Nigerian TikToker Eedie Bliss, weeks after the social media influencer was arrested over allegations made against the actress and her family.

The controversy began in December 2025 when Eedie Bliss shared a video online alleging that Mercy Johnson’s husband, Prince Okojie, had bought a house for a woman said to be his pregnant mistress.

In the same video, the TikToker also suggested that the actress was connected to actions that allegedly caused the woman to lose her pregnancy. Eedie Bliss claimed the information originated from popular gossip blogger Cutie Juls.

Following the video’s circulation, Prince Okojie filed a formal petition, leading to the TikToker’s arrest and detention in Abuja.

Addressing the issue on Instagram, Mercy Johnson revealed that her decision to drop the case was influenced by appeals from respected individuals who intervened on the TikToker’s behalf. She stressed that the move was made out of regard for those who pleaded with her, as well as out of love and respect for her husband.

However, the actress made it clear that her withdrawal should not be mistaken for weakness. According to her, she remains prepared to pursue other legal actions against individuals who spread damaging claims about her family.

Mercy also alleged that some false stories circulating online are driven by people within the entertainment industry itself, accusing certain actresses of secretly owning blogs that publish harmful content for personal gain.

Expressing emotional distress, the mother of four revealed that the allegations have affected her children, saying they have faced bullying at school because of rumours spread online. She questioned why bloggers and content creators would knowingly cause such harm to families in pursuit of attention.

Going forward, Mercy stated that anyone who makes allegations against her will be required to provide proof. She warned that she would no longer tolerate unverified claims, especially when they impact her children’s wellbeing.

While confirming that the case against Eedie Bliss has been dropped, Mercy Johnson emphasized that several other defamation cases remain active and will be pursued through legal channels.

She concluded by urging the public to respect her privacy and keep her family’s name out of unnecessary controversy, insisting she intends to remain focused on her life and career.
