One of Uganda's celebrated singers, 'A Pass' has claimed he was assaulted on election day during Uganda’s presidential and parliamentary polls, describing the incident as an unprovoked attack that left him with injuries.
The artist shared details of the alleged assault through a video posted on his Instagram page, saying the incident occurred on January 15, the day Ugandans went to the polls under heavy security measures and a nationwide internet shutdown.
According to A Pass, he was attacked while near a polling station, estimating the location to be just a short distance away. He said the confrontation caught him off guard and involved multiple individuals.
In his account, the singer claimed that three men confronted and beat him, adding that two of them were wearing what appeared to be military uniforms, while the third was dressed in civilian clothing. He maintained that he did nothing to provoke the incident.

A Pass, who has previously been outspoken about governance issues and is a known supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP), suggested the attack was linked to the tense political atmosphere surrounding the elections.
At the time of the incident, Uganda was experiencing heightened security across the country as authorities implemented strict measures during the voting process.
The elections later concluded with the Electoral Commission declaring President Yoweri Museveni the winner, securing over 70 percent of the total valid votes cast.
Neither security agencies nor electoral officials have publicly commented on A Pass’s claims at the time of publication.
