Murang'a Seal players celebrate/HANDOUT

Kakamega Homeboyz and Murang’a Seal bounced back in style on Sunday, each securing crucial victories in the Kenyan Premier League.

Homeboyz overpowered Kariobangi Sharks 2-0, with Moses Musavadi giving them an early lead in the second minute, before Hillary Otieno doubled the advantage in the 56th minute. The win marked an immediate response to their previous 2-1 defeat to Bandari, restoring confidence in the side.

Murang’a Seal also claimed all three points, edging Bidco United 2-1 in a hard-fought contest. Paul Osama opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but Bidco’s Collins Akite levelled in the 55th minute. The home side eventually sealed the victory through Jackson Imbiakha in the 87th minute, bouncing back from a 3-2 loss to Gor Mahia, where they had squandered a 2-0 halftime lead.

Elsewhere, champions Kenya Police enter Monday’s crucial Premier League fixture against Nairobi United under the leadership of Nicholas Muyoti, tasked with steadying a side that has struggled for consistency this season.

The team, currently fifth in the league, has approached training with renewed intensity, focus, and tactical clarity. Muyoti has emphasised structure, defensive discipline, and mental resilience.

“The players know the stakes. Monday is crucial,” said Muyoti, who recently left United to join the cops. “We approached training with a clear plan, focusing on discipline, possession, and defensive solidity. Every player understands their role. This match is a chance to reset our campaign and show resilience on the field.”
The departure of Serbian coach Dusan Stojanovic after just 73 days left Police in need of immediate leadership. Stojanovic managed only one win in seven league matches, culminating in a 1-1 draw with Mara Sugar.
CEO Japheth Munyendo confirmed the move, citing the need for stability. Muyoti now inherits a squad eager to respond to fan expectations and the pressure of defending a Premier League title.
Reflecting on his early days in charge, Muyoti said: “It’s been an intense period since my appointment. The objective is simple: restore confidence and bring back a winning mentality.”
He credited assistants John Baraza and Isaac Njeri, saying their input has strengthened tactical preparation. Video analysis, scenario-based drills, and tactical briefings have been key to readying the squad for Monday’s challenge.
Nairobi United arrive at Police Sacco Stadium fully prepared, with technical director Salim Ali overseeing detailed preparation, focusing on defensive compactness, midfield control, and counter-attacking opportunities.
“We know Police are strong, but our focus ison executing our plan. Players are ready physically and mentally,” Ali said. On Police’s coaching change, he added: “Muyoti brings a new style. It’s a challenge, but we’re focused on our own game.”
Both teams understand that Monday’s clash could shape the early league table. Kenya Police aims to stabilise and regain momentum, while Nairobi United seeks to assert itself as a consistent threat.
Muyoti emphasises adaptability, tactical discipline, and communication as key pillars for success.
“We respect our opponents, but we are here to win. Monday is about regaining momentum and sending a message to the league,” he said.
Ali added, “Games against top clubs like Police require focus and execution. Our squad is prepared.”
Monday’s showdown promises a high-intensity, competitive encounter that could define both teams’ trajectories in the early stages of the Premier League season.
Combined with wins for Homeboyz and Murang’a, the weekend highlighted how quickly fortunes can turn in Kenya’s top flight, where momentum, confidence, and tactical acumen continue to shape the league
