Veteran Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando has broken her silence following claims by Pastor Robert Lumbasi that the two were married, firmly dismissing the assertion and offering clarity on their relationship.

Speaking in a recent interview with SnS, Muhando explained that while the pastor had expressed his love for her, that alone did not amount to marriage.

She emphasized that she has never been married and remains guided by faith when it comes to matters of the heart.

“Being told ‘I love you’ does not mean I am married. I have a ‘yes’ and a ‘no’. I respect him because he is a man of God,” Muhando said.

“This pastor showed me that he loved me. He has to wait like others. When God’s timing is right, it will happen,” she said.

Muhando further clarified that Pastor Lumbasi, like others before him, would have to wait for her response after she prays about the matter. According to her, expressing affection does not automatically translate into a commitment or marital union.

“I have never been married. If you want to date me, I will tell you, ‘wait, I have to ask God.’ He is not the first one to want to date me,” she added.

The celebrated gospel artiste noted that she is intentional and prayerful about relationships, explaining that anyone interested in dating her must be prepared to wait as she seeks God’s guidance before making any decision.

Marriage Announcement

The Kenyan pastor publicly said that he is married to renowned Tanzanian gospel musician Rose Muhando, revealing that the couple formalised their union through a private family ceremony that was kept out of the public eye.

Speaking to his congregation, Pastor Lumbasi disclosed that the marriage took place in 2023 and that he fully completed the dowry process, a significant cultural requirement across many East African communities. The pastor said the decision to keep the union private was deliberate and rooted in faith, respect, and family values.

Lumbasi expressed deep admiration for Muhando, describing their relationship as one anchored in Christian principles. He also urged members of the church and the public to respect their marriage, making it clear that the gospel singer is no longer single.

“I want to tell men in this church not to approach Rose because she is already taken. It’s been on the low key,” the pastor said during a church service.
