Kenyan beauty entrepreneur and content creator Shorn Arwa has weighed in on the evolution of Otile Brown’s music.
In a series of engaging Instagram stories, Arwa made a bold claim: Otile Brown was at his absolute best when he was romantically involved with socialite Vera Sidika.
The commentary didn't go unnoticed. Vera Sidika herself reposted the story, adding a layer of sarcasm to the brewing debate.

Vivid Nostalgia: Teasing the Hits
In the video that sparked the conversation, Shorn Arwa is seen playfully vibing to some of Otile’s most iconic tracks from the late 2010s. With her signature expressive flair, she teased the lyrics of "Chaguo la Moyo" and "Baby Love", the latter of which famously featured Vera as the lead video vixen.
Arwa’s energy was infectious as she mimicked the smooth Swahili crooning that defined Otile’s rise to fame. She argued that the music produced during that specific window had a "different soul" and a level of romantic intensity that she feels is missing from his more recent projects.

According to Arwa, there has to be a lady to break the artist's heart so that he can return to thestudio and unleash the best version of himself in a heartbreak song.

“Somebody cannot heartbreak Otile Brown and send that nigga to the studio so he gives us a back-to-back song? Vera Sidika, wake up! When this guy was dating Vera Sidika, he used to really sing. I don’t know what Vera was giving Otile Brown,” she said while teasing one of Otile’s hit songs.
Vera’s Sarcastic Clapback
When Vera Sidika caught wind of the video, she didn't shy away from the spotlight. Reposting Arwa’s story to her millions of followers, she added a short, humorous caption that quickly became a meme:
"Sasa mimi nimefanya? (Now, what have I done?)."
The response was seen by many as a lighthearted acknowledgement of the "Vera Sidika Effect"—the undeniable media storm and creative surge that followed their relationship in 2018.
A Whirlwind Romance
Otile Brown and Vera Sidika’s relationship was the defining celebrity story of 2018. The pair began dating in April 2018, flooding social media with romantic photos from their vacations in Mauritius.

Despite the dramatic end 5 months later—which included Vera famously leaking private details about their intimacy and financial disagreements—the music from that period remains some of the most streamed in Otile Brown’s catalogue.
As Arwa concluded her stories, she maintained that while Otile remains a powerhouse in the industry, there was a specific magic during the Vera years that remains unmatched.
