World predictions for 2026/WILLIAM WANYOIKE

Most respondents expect climate and technology disruptions to shape the world in 2026, according to a Statista survey.

Seventy-eight per cent believe average global temperatures will increase, while 69 per cent anticipate more extreme weather events in their countries.

Sixty-seven per cent think artificial intelligence will replace many jobs.

Social and economic instability also features prominently, with 59 per cent expecting large-scale protests over national governance and 48 per cent predicting a recession in their countries.

Fewer respondents foresee a major global stock market crash (39 per cent) or an end to the war in Ukraine (29 per cent).
