I am not safe! Gachagua claims, insists he wants security restored

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that his personal security was withdrawn by the government, warning that his safety is now at risk despite what he describes as his continued senior status in national politics.

Speaking on Monday, Gachagua claimed the decision to withdraw his security detail was unjustified and dangerous, arguing that his influence and public standing still warrant state protection.

“I want to tell the people of Kenya that Rigathi Gachagua is not safe. The government withdrew security from him despite his senior status in the country,” Gachagua claimed.

He maintained that although he is no longer in office, his role in public life and the support he commands across the country make him a high-profile figure who should not be left without protection.

“Despite the fact that he was removed from office, he commands a serious following, millions of Kenyans are behind him, hence he is a senior leader who deserves protection because of his seniority in public service and his key role in determining the next presidential election,” he said.

Gachagua claimed the withdrawal of his security is linked to what he described as political fallout with the current administration and disagreements over the Mt Kenya region.

He claimed that the move is a strategy aimed at weakening his political influence.

According to the former Deputy President, the alleged plan involves creating divisions within the Mt Kenya bloc to dilute its voting power in future elections. 

Gachagua claimed the plan is "to divide the mountain between Mt Kenya East and Mt Kenya West and sometimes telling Kiambu to get out of the mountain."

Gachagua said his political activities in the region, which he described as efforts to promote unity, have made him a target.

Gachagua insisted that restoring his security is necessary not only for his personal safety but also in recognition of his stature and ongoing involvement in national political affairs.
