The number of civil servants covered under the government medical scheme has declined sharply over the past three years, according to data from the State Department for Public Service.

Coverage peaked in the 2021/22 financial year at 142,885 beneficiaries before dropping to 139,142 in 2022/23 and 133,980 in 2023/24.

In the current 2024/25 financial year, the figure stands at 124,211, representing a decline of nearly 19,000 beneficiaries.

Earlier years recorded steady growth, rising from 122,199 in 2018/19 to 139,561 in 2020/21.

The data highlights a sustained downward trend in recent years.
