Our Lady Consolata Mugoiri Girls High School students celebrating outside the school's entrance/ ALICE WAITHERASecondary schools in Murang’a County posted a significant improvement in the KCSE examinations, registering higher marks nationally.
Murang’a High School led the county with 10.163, up from 9.720 last year, an improvement that Chief Principal Willie Kuria hailed as the best the school has attained in many years.
It was followed by Our Lady Consolata Mugoiri Girls High School, which posted a mean score of 9.187 points, up from 8.521 the previous year.
Chief Principal Susan Mundia could not hide her excitement after the results were tabulated, attributing the strong performance to firm Christian faith and strict discipline.
Mundia said the candidates’ hard work and the cooperation of parents provided a conducive environment for the improvement of 0.668 points.
A total of 14 candidates attained A, 88 got A-, 99 B+, 100 B, 87 B-, and 35 C+, with 422 out of 444 candidates achieving C+ and above, an equivalent of 95 per cent.

We’re very delighted to have attained a mean score of over nine points. Our target this year is to hit 10 points,” she said, joining students in songs and dances in celebration.
Fr. Julius Kariuki, father in charge of Mugoiri Catholic Parish, said the students’ performance was impressive and the culmination of years of hard work.
“We thank God for the success, which we attribute to a spirit of reverence, prayer and discipline. As clergy, we will continue offering our support until they hit their new target,” he said.
Kariuki urged those who did not attain university entry grades not to lose hope, saying they can still pursue tertiary education.
In third position came Kangema High School, which improved from a mean score of 7.2134 to 8.0945, with 214 candidates attaining C+ and above, including 15 A, 34 B+, 55 B, 63 B-, and 47 C+

“Our boys worked very hard, and their efforts have paid off. As a school, we are very proud of them,” he said, adding that the new target this year is to attain over 9.1 points.
At Pioneer Girls School, 82 out of 105 candidates scored C+ and above, with one student scoring A, seven attaining A-, 16 B+, 15 B, 20 B-, while 23 candidates scored C+.
Principal Margaret Kongo confirmed the school achieved a mean score of 7.82, a major improvement last achieved in 2019 when it scored 7.8 points.

“We are delighted by the stellar performance of our students and have high hopes that the 2026 class will post even better results. We’ve achieved this through strong collaboration by all stakeholders,” Kongo said.
At Njiiris High School, 445 out of 543 candidates attained university entry scores, with the school’s mean improving from 7.771 last year to 8.090.
A total of 38 candidates achieved grade A, 77 B+, 109 B, 123 B-, and 98 C+.
Ichagaki Boys also improved from 6.026 to 6.544 this year, with 156 out of 180 achieving C+ and above.
