Eddie Butita Reveals the Unexpected Struggles of Dating a Gen Z Woman

The renowned Kenyan comedian and content creator Eddie Butita has shared a rare glimpse into his personal life, detailing his experiences dating a member of Generation Z.

Speaking during the "Big 6 Roundtable" 2025 recap, Butita sat alongside fellow industry leaders Abel Mutua, Judy Nyawira, Njugush, Celestine Ndinda, and Philip Karanja.

The conversation revealed how the scriptwriter's lifestyle has shifted since moving away from singlehood. His peers admitted they initially struggled to believe the news of his relationship.

Judy Nyawira noted that they originally thought the news was simply another joke or comedy routine.

A New Way of Living

Butita described several lifestyle changes he has adopted since entering the relationship. One notable addition to his daily routine is the use of scrubbing gloves for bathing. He also expressed lighthearted confusion over certain household "rules" introduced by his partner.

"I’m still trying to understand why a person stands next to a bed that was already made, only to tear it down and make it fresh again for sleeping," Butita remarked.

He noted that when he was single, he would simply jump back into the bed exactly as he had left it.

His domestic life has seen other upgrades as well. He joked that his fridge, which previously only held chili peppers and ice cubes, is now stocked with cream and various meats.

“At least now my fridge doesn’t contain only pepper. Now it has a variety of items, and other items,” he said.

Matching Pyjamas and Social Challenges

The comedian has also found himself participating in social media trends he previously avoided. He recalled a moment in late 2024 when he participated in a challenge involving matching pyjamas.

He admitted that he had a photographer take professional photos of him in the attire. His friends teased him for the transformation, noting that he had gone from "a boy from the police station" to someone participating in coordinated photoshoots.

Building "Great Foundations"

For Butita, 2025 was defined by the word greatness. However, he clarified that this did not just mean external success. He spent the year focusing on the structural foundations of his life, including his career as an entrepreneur and his personal relationships.

He compared this process to building a 25-storey skyscraper, noting that the "mizizi" (roots) must be deep so that the tree is not knocked down by the wind.

This focus on stability appears to be a key part of his transition into a more settled personal life.

While Butita did not name his partner, his colleagues at the roundtable noted that the comedian seems "happy" and is enjoying this new chapter of his life.
